What's a yak doing in Chapter 10? It's Fall Break and a kitten named Sprout is going on a trek with his Big Person in Kathmandu. Sounds pretty far out or rather pretty high up doesn't it? The whole time he is on the expedition in the Himalayas, he thinks about Sandra, a friend in Kitty School who lives at a cat rescue in Atlanta. He is convinced his family should adopt her.

One day, after drinking yak milk tea with some villagers, Sprout sees a herd of yaks on the mountainside. One of them wears a blanket with the words "Adopt Sandra" woven into the side of it. To everyone in his group the message seems strange, but it is clear to Sprout. He must persuade his Big Person to go to the shelter where Sandra lives as soon as they get home and adopt her! The ending has a special twist!

School time for kittens! Most likely not in a classroom, but outside in nature, or inside a house. As they grow up they learn all about the world around them. Do you wonder how far back their parents can remember and where their ancestors may have come from? While they're napping, do they dream only about hunting mice or do they think about a fun play date they had with a fellow kitten a week ago?

These Chattahoochee kittens are learning about a time eons ago even before cats existed.

How awesome is that?

How close have you come to an alligator?

As far away as possible is my motto. A sleepy alligator may look like it's dozing but it can move at lightning speed and you don't want to be there when it does! Luckily, for these kittens, Bumpy is a friendly alligator who can make magic. Much like a spider spinning its silken web, he can open his cavernous mouth to emit a rainbow that surrounds the kittens and beams them home with its power.
